AFTER:
This campsite was reported to us by Will Kinney who is the DNR CO for Grand Traverse County
This was on a TART / VASA Trail and near the NCT, so I notified TART - Jonny Tonga and NCT - Mike Scaeffer.
I had an appointment on Monday morning but Steve Largent wanted to take a look. so we drove over there at 10:30am.
When we got there, Mike and his wife, Debbie, were already working. We pitched in but Steve had to leave at 12:30.
We packed as much into Steve's truck as we could and we put 3 bags in my car and we took it to the Fork's Campground
Mike and Debbie continued to work for 2 or 3 more hours and bagged all the trash and the remaning tent. They took what
They did a fantastic job!!!
2024_1028 - UPDATE:
Mike, Debbie and Steve went back to get the last of the trash and Mike and Debbie took most of it in their truck and Steve
It was placed in the dumpsters at the Forks which is now FULL and at Schecks which still is available for more trash.
The "AFTER" photo tells you what a great (remarkable) job these people did at this site.
