Steve Darby of a group of downstate whitewater paddlers contacted me and asked if they could help us by
doing a cleanup on the Beitner Rapids sometime this summer. I was very happy to have their help.

They kept saying there was not going to be much trash on the rapids and they were right.

They found 2 pairs of sunglasses, a small car floormat, a plastic bottle, a glass bottle and a single Croc flip-flop.

They plan to make this an annual event since it gives them one more reason to paddle these exratordinary
set of real rapids which are one of the only ones in the Lower Peninsula.
