Many thanks go out to John Ransom and his Benzie Conservation District crews for putting
together a very well organized and well attended project today on the Upper Platte River from
Veteran's Park that is East of Honor to Deadstream Rd Landing which is West of Honor.

This river has been a BRCS project that has been on going for many years but recently the BCD
and some local activists have taken this cleanup on as their very own which makes us extremely
happy. Jim Keglovitz and his wife Claudia have been working hard to get local involvement.
They have let us use their their property for a landing and that has been extremely helpful.

We did find the usual array of lost shoes and cans and bottle in the East section but we also
found a metal flolding chair that was happily taken ashore by nearby a property owner and
a 5 gallon bucket that was retrieved by Jim K. Two full bags of trash were taken out of the river.

The West section crew found a large tent frame and the parts of a large plastic storage building
in the same places we have found them before. What's with that? Are people putting them in
there on purpose? WHY? Do they think they will biodegrade? Also they found some lumber.

The picnic at the Honor Park was very nice and everyone had a good time.
